Project 2: Four Pillars, Two Photos

The first photo mainly employs the simplicity and asymmetry pillars of photography composition. Simplicity is evident because there are four elements in the photo: the water, the wooden house, the trees, and the sky. Asymmetry is present because the wooden house is placed in the lower right side of the frame. The ripples in the water also add to the asymmetry of the photo. The pillar of eye lines can also be evident since the vertical nature of the trees and the portrait orientation of the photo guides your eyes to the wooden house

The second image of the yellow flower employs all four of the pillars. Simplicity is evident because there are only 2 elements in the photo: the yellow flower and the green background. Asymmetry is present because the flower is positioned in the lower left corner of the frame. Eyelines are present because the stem of the flower acts as a line pointing towards the flower, the focus of the photo, and the photo is in portrait orientation which corresponds with the vertical nature of the flower. Point of view is present because instead of taking the photo from an above “human” angle, the photo is taken from a low angle.
